Public Domain Brand: The Dead Made This. Wear It.
An apparel label built on art the world already owns—and the custom storefront that sells it: a cinematic, made-to-order shop with its own checkout, fulfilment and back office.
Public Domain Brand is our own label—two designers remixing classic art and culture into apparel people actually want to wear. The first store ran on WordPress and WooCommerce. In September 2026 we tore it down and built the whole thing from scratch: a storefront that feels like the brand, wired straight to payment and print.
What we made
- Brand & creative direction
- Custom e-commerce storefront
- Checkout & order flow
- Print-on-demand fulfilment, built in
- Back office: orders, site editing & mailing list
- Social content generator
The Idea.
The public domain is the part of culture nobody owns, which means everybody does. Van Gogh’s smoking skeleton, Mucha’s posters, the classic movie monsters—timeless works, no gatekeepers, printed on apparel made to order the moment someone buys it.

The Build.
A dark, cinematic storefront—black ground, full-bleed scans of the original artworks, a storm that breaks over the hero and a camera that pushes into the skull on scroll. You can shop by collection or by source artwork, so every design leads back to the work it came from. Underneath, it’s a real store: one catalogue decides every price, Stripe’s hosted checkout takes the money, and paid orders go straight to the print house. All 43 products and 961 colour-and-size combinations are mapped end to end.

The Result.
The new store went live September 21, 2026, and took its first real order the same day. It scores in the 90s on mobile PageSpeed, down from a heavy WordPress build, and the partners run it themselves from a back office we built alongside: orders and print status, product and page editing, bundles, discount codes, abandoned-cart recovery, a mailing list, and a tool that turns any product into a story post or short video in a click.
